Having received 13 Academy Award nominations, more than any other film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (released Dec. 25, 2008) was awarded three Oscars for art direction, visual effects and makeup.

Best actor went to Sean Penn in Milk, supporting actress went to Penelope Cruz in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, costume design to The Duchess, and the other seven categories of best picture, adapted screenplay, director, cinematography, film editing and original score all went to Slumdog Millionaire.

On the Fitzgerald Society’s message board, reviews are mixed: while some opine that the film is more accurately “inspired” by the Fitzgerald story, others say it is the question of how Peter Fincher turns a 9,000 word story into a feature-length film that held their fascination.
